Application

PERFORMANCE:

CORROSION
: Effectively prevents corrosion due to Carbon Dioxide, inorganic salts, dissolved oxygen & Hydrogen sulphide contamination from sour fluid or bacterial action. The inhibitor acts as a cathodic polarizer

MICROBIOLOGICAL GROWTH: Effectively prevents the metabolic function necessary for reproduction of the bacteria cell. Successfully prevents anaerobic/aerobic and sulphate reducing bacteria.

Dosage & Procedure

Hydro Testing Corrosion Inhibitor RXSOL  can be fed directly or through chemical doses pump. Doses may vary with the quality of water to be treated and the residence time of the water in the system.

Actual consumption is determined under operating conditions.

Recommended Dosage of Hydro Testing Corrosion Inhibitor RXSOL 4000

Hydro Testing Corrosion Inhibitor RXSOL 4000 dosage levels typically are 500ppm for hydrotest operations and between 1000- 4000 ppm when used as a packer fluid inhibitor. The exact dose rate for a specific job would depend on the environment and fluid that the chemical was being deployed into. We are happy to advise on this if required.

Notes & Precautions

Benefit  / Advantage of Hydro Testing Corrosion Inhibitor RXSOL 4000

  • Hydro Testing Corrosion Inhibitor RXSOL 4000 is a liquid multifunctional chemical designed to completely treat hydrostatic test fluid, saltwater packer fluid, saltwater drilling fluid, during Hydro-testing and oil field water injection programme.
  • Hydro Testing Corrosion Inhibitor RXSOL 4000 contains an effective filming corrosion inhibitor, oxygen scavenger and biocide, altogether in a single formulation convenient to dose with single chemical injection pump or skid.
  • Hydro Testing Corrosion Inhibitor RXSOL 4000 is economical to use as handling is limited to one chemical.
  • Rapidly kills Sulphate Reducing (SRB) as well as other offending bacteria that give rise to Microbial Influenced Corrosion (MIC)
  • Mitigates against acid corrosion resulting from residual low pH of surface waters

How to use Hydrotesting Corrosion Inhibitor Oxygen Scavenger Biocide RXSOL-43-4035-210

Corrosion inhibitor shall be dosed in the displacement water piping at the suction of main pump/ booster pump

Dose 2 to 3 ltr per 100 ltr water.

Contact time: Minimum 24 hours for effective passivation + biocidal effect

Temperature: Ambient to 50°C (higher temp improves kinetics but not essential)

Mixing: Ensure thorough circulation to distribute inhibitor uniformly

Water quality: Ideally should be low hardness and low chloride (<50 ppm Cl⁻ preferable)

Oxygen level: Target <1 ppm dissolved oxygen after treatment (check with DO meter if possible).

Flushing: After test, flush system thoroughly to remove chemicals.

When to consider HIGHER DOSAGE of RXSOL Hydrotesting Corrosion Inhibitor?
However if you are considering higher dosage, it should be under following conditions:
If hydrotest duration exceeds 7 days OR If high temperature (more than 50°C) - use 3% - 4% v/v

Additional points to take care:

  • For high chloride hydrotest conditions, additional passivators are needed which are in-built in HydroTech 3670 RX.
  • After hydrotest, thoroughly flush the system to remove residual chemicals
  • Always monitor pH and oxygen scavenging effectiveness onsite

Areas of Use

The major factor which contributes to the corrosion in hydro-static test water is the dissolved oxygen and dissolved solids do not have much impact on the corrosion rate except the chloride content. The presumptions like not using the corrosion inhibitor if the water is not with high mineral content could beM disastrous as in fact any corrosion process, even a very mild one, will be accompanied by the set up of galvanic cells and formation of corrosion products deposits. Such environment makes the conditions ideal for the corrosion process to continue at accelerated rate once the process fluid will be run through the line.

Industry Applications

Use Case Application of Hydrotesting Corrosion Inhibitor RXSOL-43-4035-210

BPCL Refinery, Maharashtra

Our Hydro Testing Corrosion Inhibitor was successfully deployed during the pressure testing. The product ensured corrosion-free shutdown and eliminated the need for post-test internal pipe cleaning.

HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Ltd HRRL, Rajasthan

Used in pre-commissioning hydrotest of large-diameter pipelines carrying high-pressure condensate. Our corrosion inhibitor prevented microbiological growth and pitting in both stagnant and recirculating systems.

Effect of Micro – Organisms:

All water used for Hydro-testing generally contains iron bacteria and sulphate reducing bacteria. The iron bacteria attack to the pipe wall mostly at 6 o’clock location and produces tubercle of iron oxide by metabolic action. Below the tubercles, sulphate reducing bacteria grows and generates H2S from sulphate of water. The H2S goes on reacting with iron forming Fe2S. This is combined with auto catalytic formation of HCI under tubercle and lead to deep pitting and perforation of the pipe wall. The mechanism is more pronounced under stagnant condition and is relevant of Hydrostatic testing.
