Rust Guard Rust Preventive

Corrosion inhibitor formulated with proprietory additives to form a thin, invisible, and adherent passive film on ferrous metal surfaces after rust removal.

SKU: RXSOL-68-1027-025 Category:

Description

Rust Guard Rust Preventive Liquid is an inorganic corrosion inhibitor specially designed for temporary rust protection of ferrous metals after acid cleaning or rust removal processes. Formulated with a proprietory blend, Rust Guard Rust Preventive forms a thin, transparent, and adherent silicate film on metal surfaces that inhibits flash rusting caused by moisture and air.

Unlike oil-based rust preventives, RXSOL RustGuard Rust Preventive leaves no greasy or sticky residue and is ideal for parts that are to be painted, assembled, or stored indoors for short periods. The protective layer does not interfere with welding, machining, or further surface treatments.

This product is free from chromates, non-flammable, and environmentally safer, making it suitable for use in workshops, fabrication yards, and industrial process lines.

Application

Typical Use Case of Rust Guard Rust Preventive

  • After acid descaling OR rust removal
  • As a passivation rinse in steel processing
  • For pipes, tanks, tools, flanges, and auto parts
  • In metalworking shops, shipyards, and fabrication plants
  • Temporary protection before painting or powder coating

Rust Guard is a water-based rust preventive formulated using silicate chemistry. It forms a thin, alkaline protective film on metal surfaces that inhibits oxidation and flash rusting. The formulation provides temporary corrosion protection during storage, handling, and transportation of steel parts. It is ideal for industrial applications requiring non-oily, easily washable rust protection.

Dosage & Procedure

Application Instructions   ::: Coverage 100 Square footage coverage is dependent on concentration and process equipment used.

Surface Preparation:
  • The surface should be clean, de-rusted, and free from acid residues or scale.
  • It is recommended to rinse with water after acid treatment and allow surface to dry slightly before application.

Dilution:
  • Dilute RXSOL RustGuard Rust Preventive SS to 10-20% in deionized or clean water.
  • For light-duty indoor protection: 5%
  • For humid storage or shipping: 15-20%

Application Methods:
  • Spray, brush, or dip the metal parts in the diluted solution.
  • Ensure full coverage and allow to air dry naturally.
  • Do not rinse off after application unless protection is no longer required.

Drying Time:
  • Surface-dry in 10–30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Drying can be accelerated with gentle warm air (below 60°C).

Removal (if required):
  • Wash off with water or wipe with a damp cloth.
  • For complete removal, RXSOL Alkaline Cleaner can be used.
